DESIGN 1

This arrangement has been made in a yellow ceramic pot. I have used Hamamelis mollis for the height, and the triangles on the right are made from Equisetum hyemalis, which can be bent into all sorts of interesting shapes. More of this (unbent) is used on the left of the arrangement to give a change of form. Other foliage used is Arum italicum 'Marmoratum', Hedera colchica 'Sulphur Heart', rolled Hedera hibernica leaves, and the grassy leaves of Acorus gramineus 'Ogon'. Flowers used are yellow double 'Monte Carlo' tulips, purple iris and yellow daffodils. I have tied the daffodil stems together with raffia so that they create a block of colour towards the top of the arrangement. All the foliage is from the garden, as is the Hamamelis mollis. Other flowers are from the florist.
