Gardening
"A garden has a curious innocent way of consuming cash while all the time you are under the illusion that you are spending nothing." - Esther Meynell.

What's Going On In The Garden?    What's Going On In The Garden?
This is the heart of this website, and its raison d'ętre! You won't find any lists of jobs you ought to be doing this month (to make you feel guilty if you don't do them!), but you can find out what's been happening in my Garden, what the weather's been like, what's in flower in the garden each month, and what birds have been seen. Lots of pictures of the garden and plants. You can also access the garden diary archives for the years 2000 to 2006 from here if you wish.

In August 2003 we took legal possession of a new patch of land adjoining our garden. Have a look at how we transformed the land from an area overgrown with bindweed, nettles, brambles, and many other difficult weeds, to what we think is now a beautiful garden!

Flower Arranging

Flower Arranging Classes    Flower Arrangement Classes
My flower arranging classes begin again on September 20th 2011.
The intermediate/advanced class takes place on Tuesdays from 10.00am - 12.00am, and will cover contemporary designs and techniques, as well as more traditional flower arranging. Classes are run through North East Worcestershire College, and are held off-campus for 10 weeks at Burcot Village Hall, Alcester Road, Burcot. You can enrol any time from August onwards. See www.ne-worcs.ac.uk for enrolment details. Please note that I will not be taking the beginners class which takes place on Tuesday afternoons from 12.45 - 2.45pm at the same venue. This class will now be taught by another tutor.

Flower Arranging Using Clematis    Flower Arranging Using Clematis
Clematis are beautiful flowers to use in arrangements, and there are hundreds of types to chose from. The British Clematis Society has produced a booklet promoting Clematis as a cut flower. It includes several flower arrangements designed and photographed by me, as well as information about how to use Clematis in flower arrangements. Click here for details and an order form. Check out the British Clematis Society.
